Most of the information on the website is in standard XHTML (Extensible HyperText Markup Language), which is accessible for all users. However, users may come across other formats. The information contained in those formats may be accessed as follows:

PDF Format
: There are many documents in "Portable Document Format", which is used primarily to safeguard the content and composition of printed documentation and publications. To be able to read PDF documents (which have a .pdf extension) you need to use a PDF reader. You can find PDF readers on the website of the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) or you can use the Adobe Acrobat Reader®. Both can be downloaded free of charge from their respective websites, although the FSFE link is commercially neutral, as it is a non-profit organisation.

Excel Format
: Some of the documentation is in Microsoft Excel® format (.xls, .csv extensions) and may be viewed directly if you have Microsoft Excel installed on your computer. If you do not have that software, Microsoft offers a free viewer for Excel documents, which you may download from the Excel Viewer page. You can also use a free spreadsheet viewer for Excel or Calc format documents, which you can download at, from the Apache Software Foundation, a non-profit organisation which creates free open-source software. For statistical data files published in the .csv format, please see the recommendations for viewing CSV (Comma-Separated Values) files.

PowerPoint Format
: The website also includes documents in Microsoft PowerPoint® format (.ppt, .pps extensions), which may be viewed directly with any version of Microsoft PowerPoint installed on your computer. Microsoft also offers a free viewer for PowerPoint documents that you can download from the Power Point Viewer page. You can also use the free viewer for PowerPoint or Impress format documents, which you can download at, from the Apache Software Foundation, a non-profit organisation which creates free open-source software.

ZIP format: ZIP documents (.zip extension) open with the WinZip® file compression and decompression program, although there are also other similar programs that support the same format. If you do not have this software, you can download a trial version of WinZip

In the future, in an update of this policy, the contents of this internet site will be checked and adapted, in keeping with any new version of the web content accessibility guidelines drawn up by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
